From 25th to 26th July, Oasis Kyrgyzstan organized a 2-day seminar in Chui region on safety and life skills for 14 care leavers of residential institutions and 11 children of labor migrants.
The participants gained knowledge and skills on safe and responsible migration, employment, and also received information about educational opportunities, restoration of documents, access to housing and social protection, as well as about Internet safety. Particular attention was paid to the prevention of human trafficking. For two days, each participant was accompanied by mentors and experienced trainers. This school is a launching pad for further support and mentoring of vulnerable youth. For the purpose of sustainable support, each participant received access to participate in the Bilim-Belek educational program, within which additional skills can be gained.
This event was held as part of the Start Freedom project with the support of the US Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, the UNODC office in Bishkek, the Bear Trust Foundation and in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration.
